Hey Charlotte, what are your responsibilities at Microtrading?
As Finance Assistant, my responsibilities are focused on supporting our Financial Controller, Paula. I help her with the day-to-day running of the accounts, which includes many of the administrative aspects – such as maintaining the purchase and sales ledgers. I also liaise directly with customers helping to resolve any queries they may have.
I am currently studying for my AAT (The Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification. This will enable me to assist Paula and Microtrading in a wider capacity.
What drives you in your role?
Working in accounts has always appealed to me. I’m a very keen problem solver and have an eye for accuracy and detail, which is obviously so important in this area of the business. I also really care about the business and its customers – so it’s great to play a part in the success of both.
Problem solving is also a learning curve, and this is something I’m very passionate about. I’ve been developing my knowledge and skill base since joining Microtrading, just over a year ago. The team here are always happy to help, answer questions and provide you with new knowledge – and that environment is very motivational.
What experience do you bring to the role?
I’ve always worked in a supporting role within a finance department. Before joining Microtrading, I had already worked in accounts for 14 years and my responsibilities were similar – handling purchase and sales ledgers and general finance administration.
Even with that level of experience, I’m still progressing now that I’ve joined Microtrading. As I learn more through studying for my AAT, I’m able to assist customers with a variety of queries.
What do you do in your spare time?
My time outside of work is focused on raising my four-year-old daughter, together with my husband! Family time is incredibly important to me – I love spending time, just the three of us, travelling when and where we can. I also love to read and have quite a wide taste in books.
Some words from Andrew Penlington
Andrew Penlington, Director of Microtrading, said: “Although Charlotte has only been with us for just over a year, she’s already become a valued member of the team. Charlotte’s desire to expand her knowledge is one of her most redeeming features and we are all rooting for her in completing her AAT.”
